Habitat for Humanity International invites people of all backgrounds, races and religions to build houses together in partnership with families in need. They have built over 350,000 houses around the world, providing more than 1.75 million people in 3,000 communities with safe, decent, affordable shelter. Through volunteer labor, cash donations and materials, Habitat builds and rehabilitates basic homes alongside our homeowner (partner) families. In addition to a down payment and monthly mortgage payments, homeowners invest hundreds of hours of their own labor into building their Habitat house and the houses of others. Helping A Hero builds specially adapted homes for severely injured military personnel and their families and adapt these homes for the specific injuries and challenges of wounded heroes. We also place these homes in planned communities or master planned communities so they have neighbors who will also support them in their recovery and who are not living month to month. We also partner our home recipients with service clubs that will nurture this hero and work with the family as they rebuild their lives.
