Encouraging Clients to Achieve Self-Sufficiency
Our Housing Choice Voucher Team (HCV) manages approximately 3,000 vouchers including the Disaster Voucher Program. The goal of our core business is to move people from Section 8 to self-sufficiency.

Creating Homeowners
Our Independence Program was designed by HCHA to move people from renting through the Section 8 program to owning a home of their own. Since the inception of the Independence program, we have had the pleasure of granting 10 families the title of homeowner; five of those families closed on their homes during 2007 alone.

Building Senior Housing
The courage and conviction of our Board of Commissioners allow us to develop affordable housing for seniors who are on a fixed income. We currently have six such properties open or in development . Our newest facility, Magnolia Estates is set to open in the summer of 2008.

Providing a Home for the Homeless
In 2006, HCHA was awarded 3.5 million dollars to pay rent for the homeless for ten years. Through our programs we locate homeless individuals and assist with moving them into facilities such as the Jackson Hinds Gardens, a Single Room Occupancy apartment-community.
